Changing the Administrator's Password
Once the Administrator has logged in for the first time, as for all other users, the Administrator is expected to change their password.
Changing the admin's password can be troublesome as any error in changing the password could result in the admin being unable to login again. If that were to happen, the only remedy would be to reset the system to initial values and that would delete any exiting analyses. Consequently, changing the admin password is accomplished in a more careful fashion.
The administrator's password change is "protected" by enforcing a correct email address for the admin in order to recover a potentially lost admin password. When iCR is freshly installed, the default admin password is set to admin
and the default administrator email is set to [email protected]
, which is an invalid email address. If the admin attempts to change the password before creating a valid email address, you will see the popup shown below.

This warning reminds the admin that he/she needs to set the administrator's email to a valid address. To accomplish that, use the icon to select Update Information:

This brings up the Update Your Information window allowing you to change the administrator's email:

In this example, we enter the administrator's email address. In order to validate this email address, a One-Time Password (OTP) is used to verify the address. Clicking Submit then brings up the OTP prompt:

This popup tells the admin that a 6-digit One-Time Password has been sent to the email address that was just entered. The admin then needs to retrieve the email message and extract the OTP and enter it into the popup field as shown above. Once the 6-digit code is entered correctly and Verify OTP is clicked, the email address has been verified and the administrator may now change their password using the icon to select Change Password:

With the email verified and the password changed, the administrator can move on to the rest of their administrative duties knowing that, should the password be lost, it can be recovered through their email.
